Afghanistan is going through a challenging time as the Taliban is showing its dominance in the country. As a result, many countries are now working to evacuate their diplomats and citizens to save them from the Taliban’s wrath.
Taliban is capturing different regions of Afghanistan and the situation is bleak in the country. For example, on Friday, Talibani militants captured Pul-e-Alam, Loghar province capital which is just 80km away from Kabul.
After analyzing the current situation, the UN chief has warned of the dire consequences for civilians. Due to the fear of the Taliban’s destruction, over 250,000 people have left their homes until now.
Human Rights in Danger
After 20 years, the US and other foreign troops are leaving Afghanistan. Hence, the Taliban has made efforts to hold control of the Afghan regions to show its dominance. As a result, there are fears that humans would lose their rights and the situation will be the same as 20 years ago.
Back in the 1990s, under the rule of the Taliban, women had to wear a burka to cover themselves fully. Besides, only girls below 10 years could get an education. Moreover, brutal punishments such as public executions were very common at that time.

As a result, different countries are bringing back their diplomates and citizens from their embassies. Just like Germany, The UK has limited its strength at its embassy in Afghanistan. And some countries like Denmark and Norway are closing their embassies completely.
3,000 US troops are coming into Afghanistan and the UK has also sent 600 troops to evacuate British nationals & former Afghan staff. In addition, the US will airlift thousands of people from Kabul.
Pentagon spokesman John Kirby has said Kabul is going to see bad days in the coming time. And the latest US intelligence assessment says the Talibani militants could capture Kabul within just 30 days.
UN Appeals for Peace
UN Secretary-General António Guterres appealed to the Taliban to end the crisis and maintain peace in Afghanistan. Moreover, it stated to ask the international community to take steps to stop seizure through military force.
The conflict in Afghanistan is taking a bigger toll on women and children. And it is leading to the killings of many innocent civilians. Besides, poor food and medical supplies along with critical infrastructure are making things difficult in Afghanistan.
