Steep rise in Covid-19 cases and hospitalizations is making Americans go for Covid-19 vaccination. As compared to the number of vaccinations in the last six weeks, more Americans have come forward to take a jab this time.
According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention data, Americans received over 1 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccines by Thursday. It is a big increase in the number of single-day doses since early July.
Over 70% of people have got vaccinated than a month ago. Oklahoma and Louisiana, two states lagging, have now started beating the average vaccination count in the US. People show their faith in vaccination and they openly come forward to take a jab.
Full approval from the US Food and Drug Administration for the Pfizer/BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine is about to come soon. Health officials believe more Americans will come forward to get a vaccine following the two-dose vaccine approval.
Surge in Covid Patients
Owing to a surge in Covid patients, US hospitals are bearing intense pressure. The spread of the Delta variant is leading to a boom in the number of Covid-19 cases. Even those who have got inoculated are getting infected as it takes some time for the body to gain immunity against Covid infections.
US cities such as Atlanta and Texas see a flood of Covid infected patients. Hence, the state administrations have deployed additional health personnel across the states.
Hospitals are at a breaking point in the US but the rate of hospitalizations is still below the January mark. CDC says around 11,000 new admissions into hospitals have taken the Covid-19 patients tally to a record high within a month.
Due to this, US hospitals see shortage of hospital staff. Healthy people in 20s and 30s are admitting in hospitals due to delta variant infections.
Hospitals Trying Hard to Tolerate Burden
Hospitals in the US try hard to tolerate burden and they convert auditoriums & cafeterias into medical halls to treat patients. Postponement of elective services and inclusion of staff members are the other steps on this subject.
Preventive vaccinations are the only way to combat Covid-19 infections. And the US Food and Drug Administration is likely to approve the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine by the August month.
Those already inoculated will receive booster shots by September 20. Moreover, it will cover around 75% of the eligible population at the current Covid-19 vaccination rates. According to CDC, 51.1% of the US population has received the Covid-19 vaccination till now.
