Wildfires in California have wreaked havoc on the state and these disasters have led to many types of damages. After the August Complex Fire, the Dixie Fire in California has created a lot of furor in the US state.
It has caused severe devastation and become the second-largest wildfire burning in the state’s history, states CalFire. As per the available data, the fire has scorched 463,477 acres of land in northeastern California.
And it is worse than the August Complex Fire that burned Northern California about a year ago. It gutted more than 1 million acres of land and caused severe property damage.
Leads to Severe Destruction in Four Counties
The Dixie Fire began on July 13 and only 21% of it was contained till the last Sunday evening. The deadly fire is burning four counties and it has led to the destruction of over 100 buildings. Besides, it has even leveled historic downtown Greenville.
The Plumas County Sheriff’s Office has said that around 40% of Plumas County residents are a part of the evacuation process due to the Dixie Fire. Moreover, it added there are a total of four people who are accounted for.
The Dixie Fire has broken the record of the Mendocino Complex Fire which led to the burning of over 450,000 acres. The Mendocino Complex Fire led to destruction in many counties in Northern California in 2018.
Until now, there is no knowledge about the specific cause of the Dixie Fire. Hence, the investigation is currently going on in this context. CalFire said a total of 8,574 personnel are battling 39 new wildfires overall. And it has burned more than 876,055 acres of land across California.
Management Teams Working with Firefighters to Contain the Wildfire
Firefighters along with management teams are making efforts to contain the wildfire. According to the data provided by the National Interagency Fire Center, the country is witnessing a total of 107 large wildfires burning in 15 states.
Due to this, more than 2.2 million acres of land have burned. Hence, it has caused a lot of damage to the country. Montana, Oregon, and California are facing critical conditions due to wildfires. Around 24,000 firefighters and 30 incident management teams are making efforts to contain the wildfires.
At present, Montana has 25 active fires, Idaho has 20, and Oregon has 16 wildfires in the US. Experts say the warmer and drier conditions are responsible for the wildfire incidents across the western United States during the summer season.
