Sandra Oh, a Canadian actress, has revealed something significant and shocking about her life. She has confessed that instant fame with the success of “Grey’s Anatomy” pushed her into a traumatic state. Further, she said it made her seek the help of a therapist to deal with her trauma.
Sandra Oh didn’t expect she would gain fame instantly, but it happened out of the blue. While many young stars crave fame, it turned out to be detrimental for Sandra Oh.
During her appearance on “Sunday Today” with Willie Geist, Sandra Oh talked about her mental health issues after Grey’s Anatomy success. She added she started losing her privacy on becoming famous. Besides, the actress didn’t manage to handle instant fame, which led her to trauma.
A Traumatic Experience Due to a Lack of Privacy
Oh played Dr. Christina Yang for the 10 seasons of Grey’s Anatomy, The ABC medical drama. According to her, she found it difficult to identify her real self after gaining instant success. In addition, she says a person requires a lot of privacy to do his work adequately.
Furthermore, Sandra Oh added it really becomes difficult when one loses one’s anonymity. It requires a person to build skills for trying to be real. Explaining his bad state of mind during that time, she highlighted her mental issues on “Sunday Today”.
Sandra Oh said she would fear going out and she would hide in restaurants for a long time. Moreover, she would focus on managing attention, expectation, and protecting her sense of self.
