Facebook is diving into the world of fantasy sports games to present competition for fantasy gaming giants in this sector. It has introduced fantasy sports-like prediction games to let users enjoy entertaining events in sports, TV shows, and pop culture.
Known as Facebook Fantasy Games, the social media giant has rolled out its first game on iOS and Android apps. Currently, it is only available for users in the US and Canada.
Facebook users can explore the Facebook Fantasy Games from the bookmark menu and News Feed via notifications. Pick & Play Sports is the maiden fantasy game introduced by Facebook. In addition, it has launched this daily sports prediction game in partnership with Whistle Sports.
In the future, Facebook will unveil some new fantasy sports games in different niches. New games will feature TV shows, sports, leagues, and premier digital publishers.
Games based on tv shows such as CBS’s Survivor and ABC’s The Bachelorette will come out soon. Moreover, Facebook will also introduce games based on sports leagues such as Major League Baseball and LaLiga Santander.
Brings the Social Fun of Traditional Fantasy Sports
According to Facebook, Facebook Fantasy Games present the social fun of traditional fantasy sports more simply. Besides, players could enjoy playing these prediction games in easy-to-play formats. And they have lots of fun to offer for seasoned players.
Apart from using a public leaderboard, players can easily create their own public or private fantasy leagues to compete with friends. While playing fantasy league games, members can compare scores with others. Besides, they could also share picks, reactions, and comments.
These fantasy games don’t have features to place real money on the stake. However, if players want to do it, then they could wager their money on their own.
First Step in the World of Traditional Fantasy Sports Leagues
Facebook is not offering traditional fantasy sports leagues at present. But its move to introduce fantasy games indicates it has taken its first step in this direction.
And it should not surprise anyone if Facebook starts presenting strong competition to big fantasy sports companies such as DraftKings and ESPN. Moreover, Facebook tries to expand itself into the gaming area to ensure people keep using its services.
It launched its cloud gaming service back in July to attract iOS users. Also, it offers a Twitch-like streaming service, Facebook Gaming. Facebook Fantasy Games offer better entertainment than traditional gaming options.
